San Diego Las Hermanas
Celebrating Our 52'nd Year
In 1960, "Las Hermanas" (the sisters) was formed by a group of dynamic and motivated women with the desire to give back to their community. They joined forces with
Children's Home Society (CHS) in bringing to the forefront of our society the care and protection of children in need. Las Hermanas and CHS served the needs of children from
1960 to 2000.
In 2001, the decision was made to focus our attention on the needs of our local community, with the emphasis on San Diego's East County. Through the sincere dedication of our
Active Members and their families, joined with the support and donations of our Sustainer Members, we were able to form the independent 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization San Diego
Las Hermanas. This has enabled us to reach a broader area of child and adult needs in our community.
